Master Facilitation Programme

Who’s it for

Senior leaders wanting to be more effective in directly leading organisational change and transferring skills to others, within your own organisation or as professional consulting to change leaders.


Our aim

That you will become an effective change leader, able to facilitate critical and effective interventions at the level of the Individual, the Group and the Organisation.

Able as issues arise to determine, in the heat of the moment, which level is the most suitable point for focus – in your own organisation or as consultant – and to effectively transfer these skills to others.

Training approach

Building, strengthening, and integrating skills for facilitating and developing people across the spectrum. Understanding and linking these to change, growth, personal integrity, vision for self, others, and the organisation.

Upon successful completion of all Modules, participants receive certification from The Recess College as an Approved Integrative Facilitator.

The MFP programme as a whole will be accredited by an association with global links such as the:

  • European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC)
  • International Association of Facilitators (IAF)
  • International Institute of Facilitators (INIFAC)

How we work with you

Developing and building upon your skills through experiential learning and targeted academic inputs:

  • Guiding Individual personal growth and interpersonal communication,
  • Dynamic structures of Groups and Organisations to effectively facilitate organisation development,
  • Linking political and spiritual values and a focus on the body in unlocking personal patterns and insight for grasping the dynamics of a situation.

The strength of our programme embedded in its capacity for facilitating critical and effective interventions through the unique cross-over of these skills.

In our ‘practice ground’ you are honest, dealing openly with emotional glitches, giving tough feedback and getting on without drama – seeing the connection between all these in creating solid inter-personal and intra-personal relationships.

Preparing you for facilitating wider organisational cultures by valuing ‘leadership with transparency and integrity;’ for handling risk in a world of complex and often toxic leadership environments.

Modules

Consisting of four modules with inter-vision and supervision in between – spread over a period of eighteen months:

Stage 1

The individual in three steps

Self | Self and Other | Self, the Other and the Managerial Triangle

Identifying your own and the learning needs of others, to contract with them and to effectively guide their personal development.

Defining the practice and theory of in-depth Individual and Personal development consultation work using The Leadership Insight Profile, and introducing you to the major psychodynamic theories on childhood and personal development (Freud, Klein and Bion). Acting as a bonding environment for participants to get to know each other at depth, working on the ‘three steps of self’.

Stages 2

Groups and organisation

Identifying group and organisational dynamics, to design effective interventions to further positive change.

Our two-part organisational workshop, offering background theory on groups, organisational change and the experience of the individual within the organisation. Including an introduction to the major system and psychodynamic theories on group dynamics and organisational functioning (Bion, Sharma, Hirschhorn amongst others).

Stage 3

Combining Individual, Group and Organisational facilitation

Consolidating your personal learning and preparing you for the qualification process. Working with a process of shared exchange, peer and self-review and supervision of facilitation.

Developing and integrating your new facilitation skills, you present (written or oral) on a theme central to your qualifying process. Integrating Individual, Group and Organisation learning with insight into how personal patterns.

Stage 4

Facilitation and management of risk for healthy change

Building, leading, and facilitating a strong team of change leaders in this Masterclass. Also included are the peer and self-assessment required for qualification as an Integrative Facilitator. Finally completing a written presentations under supervision.

Throughout

Inter-modular learning

Small peer inter-vision online Action Learning Groups, as well as one-to-one supervision.
Depending on your needs an optional Masterclasses for accelerated learning in individual facilitation or further expertise in group dynamics and developing organisations.

The Programme Faculty

The Director

This senior programme will be directed by Elisabeth Henderson, Director of The Recess College.

The full Faculty includes:

  • Simon Tucker, Doctoral Supervisor and Organising Tutor for The Masters and Doctorate programmes in Organisational Consultancy and Strategic Leadership at the Tavistock Clinic
  • Gerard Fromm, distinguished faculty member in the Erikson Institute for Education, Research, and Advocacy of the Austen Riggs Center
  • Senior Recess College Facilitators in their own specialisms including Willem Moolenburgh, Cheryl Brooker and graduates of the Master Facilitation Programme in 2022
  • External experts in the field of psychotherapy and group dynamics;
  • Academics and practitioners in specific theory-based disciplines.

The programme will be coordinated by Maninee Karnik and administered by Monique Lampe.

Application process

Consisting an interview with the Director and at least one other Faculty member. Aim of the interviews is to ascertain how this programme would fit your personal and organisational development needs.
